Installing the chat

How do you add a chatbot to your business website?

To add a chatbot to your business website, create a Muzau chat agent, try it out, then paste a single line of code, once, where your site has room for custom code. On WordPress, Wix, Webflow, Squarespace or Shopify, there is nothing else to install. The bubble only appears on the addresses you declare. The chat answers visitors on its own, alongside your team: you set what it knows and what it hands over.

Why the chatbot stays on the to-do list

Adding a chatbot to your site is something you think about, then put off: choosing a plugin, asking whoever manages the site, wondering what it will say and how to switch it off. Meanwhile, the visitor with a question in the evening keeps it to themselves, or asks somewhere else.

The installation is the short part, though. What matters is settled beforehand: what the chat knows, what it does when it does not know, and who takes over the conversation. Your team keeps the relationship and the appointments; the bubble answers alongside it.

Create the chatbot in Muzau, before touching the site

The chat is a separate agent, which you create in Muzau's Workshop: an agent that answers your emails does not get a chat. When you create it, you choose what it does when it cannot answer: take the visitor's contact details and let you know, or say that it does not know. It answers with what your company's Brain knows and the pages of your site that Muzau has read. How it answers visitors is covered in answering your website visitors at any hour.

Try your chatbot before putting it live

From the Muzau cockpit, you try your chat: you see what a visitor would read and what the agent would have done, without any appointment being booked or any email being sent. These tests are free, up to 30 exchanges per 24 hours. The 20 most recent conversations can be reread on the agent's page, your tests marked "Test".

Install the chatbot: one line of code, pasted once

You paste the line Muzau gives you just before the end of the page, where your site has a spot for "custom code" or "scripts": WordPress, Wix, Webflow, Squarespace, Shopify, PrestaShop or Framer. No server, no account to create. If someone manages your site, send them the ready-made message: the line, where to put it, the addresses where the chat appears and the text for your privacy policy. If your site has a content security policy (CSP), it must allow the script's address and inline styles. For WordPress, see adding an AI chatbot to WordPress; for a shop, the Shopify or PrestaShop chatbot.

Choose where the chatbot appears, and switch it off without touching the code

The bubble appears at the bottom right, on your site's address, with or without "www.", and on the ones you add, a test site for example: ten addresses at most. Anywhere else, it does not appear. The panel shows "Artificial intelligence" under the agent's name. To switch the chat off, pause the agent in one click from its page: the bubble no longer appears for new visitors, and the line stays in your site.

Before putting a chatbot live: the tests to run

Whatever the tool, ask the chatbot these questions yourself before opening it to visitors, and note every answer you are not happy with.

Once the line is pasted on the site:

In the first few days, reread the conversations: they show the questions your visitors really ask, and what your pages are missing.

What it does not do

Autonomous does not mean unchecked. You set the level of autonomy of every agent, its limits cannot be crossed, everything it does is recorded in a plain-language log, and one gesture stops it all.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a developer to add a chatbot to your website?
No. With Muzau, you paste one line of code, once, into your site's custom code area; if your site has a content security policy (CSP), it must also allow the script. If someone manages your site, Muzau gives you a ready-made message to send them: the line, where to put it, the addresses where the chat appears and the text for your privacy policy.
How do you turn off your website's chatbot without touching the code?
With Muzau, pause the chat agent in one click from its page: the bubble no longer appears for new visitors, and the line stays in place. A visitor who already had a conversation finds it again, marked "ended", without being able to write.
Can you try a chatbot before putting it on your website?
Yes. From the Muzau cockpit, you see what a visitor would read and what the agent would have done, without any appointment being booked or any email being sent. These tests are free, up to 30 exchanges per 24 hours.
Can a chatbot appear on several addresses or on a test site?
Yes, if you declare the address. The Muzau chat appears on your site's address, with or without "www.", and on the ones you add: ten addresses at most, your site's included. On an undeclared address, the bubble does not appear.
Why is the chatbot not showing on my website?
With Muzau, the bubble only appears on the declared addresses, with or without "www.": check the page's address first. It does not appear either while the agent is paused, or when a content security policy (CSP) blocks the script. After pasting, also clear your site's cache if it bundles scripts together.
